Q. About your current responsibilities

As one of the people responsible for passenger operations for international flight handling, I manage the entire staff of around 60 people. Also, we work with customers and on-site assistance.

Q. Things that you find rewarding or important

I was originally in the information division, then afterwards I was moved to the customer handling dividsion. When I was first transferred, international flights had been paused due to covid, so I was completely unable to get to know the place. However, international flights reopened little by little, and I was glad to be able to do my core jobs, being able to see the lively expressions of the staff working and the growth process up close, and once again felt the satisfaction of staff management.

Q. Tell us about your experience when you first joined the company.

When I first joined the company, I was in the information division. There were really a lot of things to remember, but I gained a lot of experience across a wide range of areas, and I felt it was really interesting and profound working closely with customers of all ages, nationalities, and genders. I got along well with my supervisors who were in charge of training me even outside of work, and I rememeber spending fun time together with them.

Q. Tell us about a memorable episode from your work.

Because of covid, international flights from New Chitose Airport were paused for around two years, but when they resumed, there were many customers from around Asia who spoke to me with a smile and said "I've always wanted to come to Hokkaido!," and every day I feel a sense of excitement with the passenger handling work.

A message from the employee

The airport is open every day of the year, and on-site operations are always at full capacity, which can probably cause a lot of problems. However, it is a workplace where there are many young people and they can follow each other and grow. Everyone should realize that you will expand the scope of your work through your motivation and communication skills.
